Clarification question:
ME: First of all I would like to confirm that we are building a mobile app because using it when you are on workout can only be possible with a mobile app as it is small in size.
INTERVIEWER: Yess.
ME: The app will be a separate app or will be accessible within the interface of facebook?
INTERVIEWER: what do you think?
ME: For leveraging the existing user base the app should be integrated within the facebook interface connected with APIs. But one downfall of this is that it can take to a clutter interface.
ME: what is the goal behind building this app?
INTERVIEWER: What do you think?
ME: facebook’s mission is to give the people power to build a community and bring the world more close. I can relate it with facebook’s vision to create a healthy community.
Goal: facebook has already acquired billion of users so from my point of view goal is to increase engagement. I would like to confirm with the interviewer whether he is compatible with the goal or not.
User Segmentation:
1. Age Below 16.
2. Age between 16-40(power user).
3. 40+
I would like to focus on people having age between 16-40 as they are the people who are most cares/passionate about their fitness. Let’s call them power user for communicating effectively throughout the further conversation.
Pain points:
1. There are several apps related to fitness user don’t know which one is good and worthy for their trust.
2. They don’t know from where to start.
3. They don’t know what diet to follow.
4. They don’t know whether they are doing the workout correctly or not.
Solutions:
1. Here user will be provided guidance by industry expert. Facebook has already a large community and people are so friendly to help each other and there should be a review/feedback option open to everyone where they can give their feedback and also see how others have rated it which will boost their trust for using facebook fitness feature.
2. There should be a goal set option to ask for they want to increase/decrease their weight & they want to focus on any specific body part or whole body according to that it should produce a list of weekly workout and meal.
3. User can follow the video made by the expert. They can also make their workout video and post it on their account and other community member can provide them guidance whether they are doing it correct or not.
4. Their should be a little gamification to motivate user for doing more workout. E.g. we can add a bar option where user gets some points if he does workout on a day and on the basis of points they can provided a badge bronze/silver/gold/platinum.
Prioritization:
Solution | impact | effort | recommendation |
1 | high | low | P0 |
2 | high | low | P0 |
3 | high | low | P0 |
4 | medium | low | P1 |
I would like to implement solution 1, 2 & 3 as our MVP & if we have more time, we can go with 4 also.
Success Metrics:
1. # of people who have used this feature at least once.
2. Average time spent per user on (facebook).
3. # of videos posted.
4. # of suggestions received per videos.
5. Average time spent per user on this service specifically.
6. DAU/MAU on this service specifically.
7. user feedback.
Risk:
1. It can lead to a cluttered interface.
2. Overall app can be working slowly.
3. Bug issues.
Fitness is about food that you eat + learning how to get fit, keeping track of your fitness and improving, coaching fitness. Will first like to explore users and decide what we will optimze for as an MVP. I think for a truly value added product a wholistic product in the end will enable us to be ahead of competition since to my knowledge no one product currently supports all. + I think our social graph on FB can be leveraged to cover all of these areas. Geogrpahy agnostic Hardware / software? (any) - ok let's do software since workout is a lot about connection with right people and motivation from others + for hardware we already have Fitbit, Apple Watch and some other products.
1. Consumers (people who are serious about getting fit but aren't already fit, people who need to workout to improve their health like i need to workout my knees to strength them due to problems, people who rarely workout and are not that serious / dedicated to get fit) (elderly, family with kids, students) 2. Fitness coaches 3. Fitness authors 4. Fitness clubs (could wnat to advertise)65. Fitness equirement manufacturers 5. Nurtitionists 7. Physical therapists who can recommend safe approaches to workouts 6. FB
PAIN-POIINTS:
Prioritization criteria (Freq, Severity, Alignment w/ BO, Leverage social graph of FB) 1. How should I plan my workouts? (H, H, H, H) 2. How should I change my diet to help me? (M, M, M, M) 3. How do I use the equipments the right way so I don't hurt myself? 4. I need some motivation but I don't know people whom I could go with and who could help provide that motivation. (M, M, H, H) 5. I want to start small so want to make sure it's reasonably priced. (L,L,L,L) 6. I am worried about getting infected from COVID. (L, L, L, M)
SOLUTIONS:
1. Leverage social graph to help recommend me to connect with coaches and others who started small so I can rely upon them to gain guidance. (High VAlue, low Effort, High alignment w/ BO, Leverages Social Graph) 2. Integrate with health solutions so that based on my health info provided, I could get recommendations of workout plans. (H, H, M, L) 3. Evaluate my workout history (I provide data daily maybe integration with Fitbit, Apple WAtch, etc.) and recommend me workout plans accordingly. (H, H, M, L)
