First off, I would like to get some clarity on the contents of the email. Let's start by thinking through some questions. I would work with my immediate PM team and leadership in the space to break down the email.

1. What do we (PM team and leadership) think he means by 'Music Experience' - I would assume that he is referring to the 'Music' section under Facebook watch. Here, experience would mean the way users interact with Music on Facebook (videos watched, songs listened etc.)
2. Let's also try to understand more about 'picking up attention' - As a PM, do we think this is an under utilized section of facebook/Facebook Watch? - Assume Yes.
secondly, 'attention' could be good or bad - Looking at internal/external factors, we can think through a couple of them:
Internal - Cannibalizing feature, issue with telemetry mechanismsNegative PR about experience, a record company suing FB for cpywright infringement, not enough creators want to be on the platform - There could be multiple, but let's focus on decline in average watch time.
3. We need to understand if this is App or Web or Both - Let's assume both
4. Where is this attention coming from? - US or WW? - Let's assume US
5. Where is this product in the current Product Lifecycle - Let's assume that it is a fully scaled Product.
6. Next, let's think through some additional constraints we are facing - Let's assume we have none.

Now that we have an alignment on the scope of the task at hand, let's think through some Users that we are focussing on and some of their Pain points.

Users:
Facebook products are often more than a 2 sided marketplace.
1. Content Creators (supply) - Artists, record companies
2. Content Consumers (demand) - regular facebook user
3. Advertisers (in-video advertisements)

Given our issue at hand being that there is decline in average watch time, let's focus on the Content Consumers.
This group in-itself is pretty broad, so, let's go ahead and narrow it down:
Here, we have:
1. Power Users - These users are on facebook Watch's music feature regularly - they check out multiple videos and stream a lot of content. They find new content in the 'Suggested for you' pages and 'New this week' or 'Popular this week' suggestions.
2. Medium Users - These are users who happen to find music on facebook based on recommendations and others sharing things on thier timelines etc  - They are aware of the feature but they do not visit the page often.
3. Rare/Non-Users - These users very rarely visit the page and check out the content. They have other avenues such as Youtube or Spotify or Apple Music for thier music needs. They may not even know that this feature exists on Facebook.

Let's focus on the Medium and Rare users here as we want to get this group more involved and use this feature more.

Before we get into solutions, let's understand the potential pain points that these user groups might have.

1. Varied Content - Not enough content (regional content, old songs etc.)
2. Recommendations - The recommendations in the 'Suggested for you' section are not accurate - need better prediction of what users want to listen to.
3. Awareness - Users are not even aware of this feature.
4. Playlists - Inability to create playlists that will prevent me from searching for songs everytime.
5. Offline capabilities - users typically using FB on phone wont be able to access their favourite music in offline mode thereby deterring them from using this product

Now that we have pain points, let's focus on prioritizing them so that we can define solutions
Based on impact and reach - the priority would be: 3,1,2,5,4

Solutions:

1Tie up with more creators (varied content) -  buy rights to more songsHighHighHighP0
2Work with ML engineers to tune algorithm to find new content based on user's listening choicesHighHighHighP0
3Create customer cohorts - Send notifications to revisit or remind about feature
non-users
lapsed users (no activity for 60 days) etc.

5Contest for content creators to create new music - oted by listeners in specific genres
- Prize for winners - Encourages content creators to create new music for listeners and also engages listeners on the feature to be more active
