What are the top 3 metrics you would track for Quora?

Quora is a social medis app where users can ask questions and get answers from the community

The mission for Quora: is to share and grow the world's knowledge

so the focus of the metrics will be that Quora should be the go to place when people are seeking answers to some questions.

So for long term goal, I will focus on Engagement and Retention.

There are 2 types of users- 

1. who ask questions

2. Who reply to questions or comments.

Users take the folowing actions:

1. Post a question

2. Reply to an answer

3. Read other people's questions/answers

4. Comment/like answers.

Metrics to focus

Engagement

1. Total # of questions asked.

2. Total # of questions answered and trend over time.

3. # of answers per question.

4. # of questions asked per user

5. # of answers given per user.

6. % of answers read

7. % of questions with atleast one answer with say 5 upvotes shows that answer received is vetted by others as good.

Retention:

1. 30 day retention

FOCUS Metrics:

1. Total # of questions answered and trend over time. We just don't want people to ask questions, we want that they are getting the answers as well.

2. 30 day retention. Users are returing because they find the platform valuable.

3.  % of questions with atleast one answer with say 5 upvotes shows that answer received is vetted by others as good.

1 and 3 in combination will help cover both qualitative and quantative value of the platform to some extent.

Tradeoff: #3 is not exact measurement of quality as 5 upvotes could be partial viewpoint Vs neutral answer.
