Situation- I was assigned as a product manager for a news app. The customer already had a news website and they wanted to create a mobile/OTT app for it to increase engagement and monetization
Task- I did a soft launch on iOS platform and realized that customers were providing very low ratings. To understand why, I asked the customer service team to share all customer issues and tickets with details.
Action- I realized that the app had several small but irritating issue
a) Video playback does not stop if the user moves over to a article
b) Delays in ad playback
e) On trying to close video playback, the app itself crashes
f) Issues with viewing videos in potrait version
Result- I started prioritizing these considering
a) # of people impacted
b) Impact to engagement and monetization
