If you were launching a bike sharing app in NYC, how many people would be interested in it?

Is the bike sharing app targeted towards schools, colleges, enterprises or for personal use? à personal use

Is there any specific purpose of launching the bike sharing app such as to go around parks, to explore any tourist spot? à can be used for any travel purpose within NYC

I am assuming bike to be the bicycles and not the 2-wheelers.

Lets assume life expectancy of 80 years and assume a uniform distribution of the population across the age groups 0-80

Mainly children above the age of 15 and adults below the age of 65 would be able to ride a bike and travel to places

So, the population to be considered = (5/8)*8M = 5M

NYC has quite the highest number of millionaires as per the latest news articles. The rich would obviously prefer travelling to any places or for any purpose using their personal vehicles.

Let’s say the population distribution across poor, middle class and wealthy and the ones who can afford and would be interested in bike sharing app is as follows:

In this age of inflation, the poor would be interested in the bike sharing app only if it’s an absolute necessity, mostly prefer to use public transport. Among the middle-class folks, some might use a bike sharing app for recreation purpose and some will use it for travel purpose.

Total people interested in a bike sharing app in NYC = 0.2M + 1.25M = 1.45M

Please note we could also consider the incoming tourists showing interest in the bike sharing app as NYC sees around 50M-60M tourists every year and the solo travelers might be most interested in those bike sharing apps.
