Tell me about a time you faced an ambiguous problem.

Situation- I was once assigned as the product manager for a learning services app. The app was designed for K-12 students and allowed them to take school lessons, appear for tests etc. We saw a queer issue where the student score were very low for a certain demography of students

Tasks- My task was to understand why students were scoring low compared to other students of comparitive educational capabilities

Action- I looked at the data statistic and realized that this queer issue was coming from the students in Indiana. Later based on discussions, I realized that teachers in Indiana were misunderstanding setting up of tests by grade due to functionality that was unique for the school district. Due to this, the questions were scrambled and not relevant to the test and the grade. Since the questions were so generic, no one had realized this obvious error

Result- Post this issue, lot of time was spent on localization requirements for product features considering region specific nuances.
