How many people report into you? What is your leadership style?

There are two extremes of leadership styles viz. authoratative leader and a servant leader. All of us lie somewhere in between.

I have a team of seven product managers reporting into me and my leadership is to lead by mentoring and making others feel better

In a team, a good leaders role is to become a force multiplier and this force multiplication needs developing newer leaders

Situation-  I was designated a product director for programmatic advertising platform and had a team of 7 product managers reporting into me

Task- We responsible for developing the customer acquisition portion of the product.

Action- Instead of providing my reports with exact directions on the requirements, I used to rather just explain the blue print, metrics & business objectives and have them come up with the feature requirements and use cases.  This required them to work with development and other stakeholders and create credibility for themselves which gave lot of self confidence and experience

Result- Successful product execution coupled with a development of a strong product team
