This is a product design qn:

Step 1- Clarify-

What do you expect the gardener robot to do? Cut grass, pick up trash, plant flowers, keep the trees preened etc.

Do you expect this robot to be self propelled?

Will this robot make decisions by itself of respond to orders placed by an adminstrator?

Can this robot interact with other equipment like a lawnmover, drone etc.

Step 2- Select User Group:

The following users will potentially need a robotic gardener

a) Employees mowing grass

b) Employees responsible for planting trees, plant

c) Employees responsible for weeding

d) Employees responsible for fertilizing the plants, grass and trees

f) Employees responsible for landscape planning

I will go with a) Employees mowing grass c) Employees responsible for weeding d) Employees responsible for fertilizing the plants, grass and trees since this is the most work intensive of rest of the activities and most frequently conducted

Step 3: Pain points

a) Frequently measuring grass growth and mowing

b) While mowing, looking for weeds and pulling them out

c) Spraying weedicite.

d) seeding grass in rough patches

f) Preening and shaping bushes

g) Cutting overgrown branches

h) planting plants as per landscape plan

i) Indicating places where pesticides have been sprayed

Step 4: Prioritization of pain points (per work intensive tasks)

a) Frequently measuring grass growth and mowing

b) While mowing, looking for weeds and pulling them out

c) Spraying weedicite.

d) Seeding grass in rough patches

i) Indicating places where pesticides have been sprayed

The rest of pain points are conducted once a way hence not considered to be work intenstive pain points

Step 5: Solution

a) A central monitoring station for monitoring tasks conducted by the robot 

b) LIDAR based sensor to measure grass growth and program blades

c) Camera for finding rough batches and spraying seeds

d) 360 movement wheels for robot to move around the yard with radars and camera to avoid collisions

e) A robotic arm to pull out weeds

f) A spray machine to spray weedicites

g) an air based piston to shoot small flags to indicate weedicite spray

h) Emergency stop to halt all operation in case of unexpected behavior

Step 6: Prioritize solution:

Must have-- High Impact, High relevance, Medium to High implementation effort
