This is a product roadmap qn;

Step 1: Examine current state of the product

a) Categorized into three tabs viz. Primary, Social, Promotions

b) Ad supported emails at the top for social and promotion tab

c) New emails are highlighted with ability to star or mark them as important

d) Ability to move emails to other folders including SPAM and TRASH.

Step 2: Product vision

Construct a simple and intuitive approach towards communication

Step 3: Short term goals

(a) Reduce time spent on finding relevant emails

(b) Improve engagement through ease of reading content and response

c) Increase in customer acquisition rate for corporate customers using Gmail

Step 4: Identify user group:

Corporate customers using Gmail for their office email purposes

Step 5: Identify prioritized feature set:

a) Emails from individuals higher in the corporate heirarchy should be prioritized in my inbox

b) I should be easily be able to move emails between folders after I read it or have a rule based workflow

c) I should be able to auto-reject spam emails or emails from unknown domain into my inbox

d) I should be able to sort my emails by sender, date, subject etc.

f) Flexible storage increase options

g) Auto replies for out of office or during busy schedules

h) Integration with voice based assistant

Step 6: Prioritization of features

Priority 1-  High Impact, Low cost ( implementatiom timeline 1-3 months)

a) Emails from individuals higher in the corporate heirarchy should be prioritized in my inbox --> similar feature is already available for ad supported emails

b) I should be easily be able to move emails between folders after I read it or have a rule based workflow --> Ability to create folders is already present, just need to simply process for dragging and dropping emails

d) I should be able to sort my emails by sender, date, subject etc. --> Must have for any corporate email service

f) Flexible storage increase options --> Very easy since Gmail is already cloud based

Priority 2-  Medium Impact, Medium/Low cost (3-6 months)

c) I should be able to auto-reject spam emails or emails from unknown domain into my inbox

g) Auto replies for out of office or during busy schedules

Priority 3- Medium/High Impact, High cost (5-7 months)

h) Integration with voice based assistant- Significant integration and usage of AI/ML algorithms
