I will answer this qn using STAR methodology
Situation- At the start of my career when I was launching my first app for news. I didnt have lot of app downloads hence the app comments on App store meant a lot to my app. One such customer gave me lot of feedback on layout issues, platform specific issues. One thing, I could not address as eliminating ads
Task- The customer wanted me to eliminate video ads since it bugged him. I could not eliminate ads all together since there would be no monetization
Action- I offered to set up a call with him over webex. This gave me insights into his user behavior e.g. His span of patience was only 10 secs on a new segment. What was happening is that, even though the video segment was for 2 mins, he would watch it for 10 secs and move away to a new video. All ads were pre-roll ads i.e they got played before the video and this irritated the user
Resolution- I was able to build an ad suppression algorithm into the ads server. It would check if its atleast 2 mins since the last ad got played for a user and would suppress any new ad till them. This made the customer happy and he bumped his rating to 4. This also helped with app download and app ratings for my app
