Scope and goal
Candidate: Is the feature built for web/app?
Interviewer: both
Candidate: Will the feature be available for all users or pain users
Interviewer: up to you
Candidate: Zoom is primarily used for businesses, I assume the goal is to build to chat features to help improve the productivity of the zoon users by facilitiating effective colloboration with others, by organizing tasks and information.
Interviewer: okay
User segments:
Users in business settings
Users in academic settings
Users with heaing or vision difficulties
I am going to stick with business users that is the biggest user base, to maximize the business impact
User jouney
1. Use zoom to colloborate and communicate with others on projects
2. Use zoom to organize task and information; to get things done; to set reminders
3. Use zoom to store file/artifacts etc.
Pain points
1. Not all messages are equal but users are unable to mark the importance of the message in a 1:1 or group chats
2. Users would want to communite with others in a different time zone; but users are unable draft a message and deliver a message in a friendly time of the receiver
3. Users sometime deal with confidential information in a work settings, that they want to send to have their messages deleted automatically once read by the receiver
4. Users work with people from around the world but users cannot use the translation features to communicate with others that are not familiar in english
5. Users are unable to send a OOTO when they are on a personal time
6. One of the outcome of chat conversation is setting a metting/ sending a mail, but users would have switch between zoom/outlook to set a meeting/sending a mail
7. Users cannot auto-archive the chats history/files once the organization wide retention time has expired
Solutions
1. Create a feature that allow users to add high importance symbol to chats in a 1:1 and group settings
2. Build a timer that enables users to fire off a message at pre-defined time
3. Launch a privacy feature, once enabled the chat messages will disappear automatically
4. Develop a translation feature that will convert a message from one language to another on the fly
5. Create a feature for sending auto OOTO replies
6. Enable users to send a outlook mail/set a meeting with 1:1/group chat by staying withing zoom itself
7. Create a option to auto-archive the chat history
