I will answer this in a STAR methodology:
Situation- We had a product that was to mimic Netfix to be launched for our client in 2016.
Task- My role was to be the product manager for the front end experience and there a business team looking at backend app pipeline development
Action-I had developed a robust UI blue print and was in the process of creating prototypes, I soon realized that the backend team had underestimated the quantum of work associated of aligning the backend pipeline from the current b2b flow to b2c flow.
Result-By analyzing the product with the budget requirement and the business objectives(of focussing on only sports streaming), I had to conclude that we will have to kill the product. This was a tough decision as me and my team had put lot of effort into feature ideation, prioritization, defining user group, monetization process etc.
