What Meta (Facebook) products can be improved by showing location information? How?
Clarifying Question 1:
Meta is the parent company of one of the most popular apps on the internet like facebook, instagram and whatsapp. For the purpose of this question I am choosing facebook since I am a regular user of facebook. Is that ok? (Interviewer: Yes)

Clarifying Question 2:
Is there any specific geography in mind? (I: No)
Is the improvement expected on any app/desktop? (I: Primarily app but should be extensible for desktop also)

Clarifying Question 3:
Is there a goal in mind in terms of improvement? (I: Nothing specific and you can choose a goal) My goal is to improve daily active users of facebook since they have been stagnating for a while. Is that ok? (I: Sure)

I will first try to understand the different target users of facebook and their primary motivations of using facebook. Then I will pick a particular target segment and think of their existing pain points and then propose solutions which can help in using the daily active users of facebook. (I: That sounds like a good plan)

Facebook's Customer Segmentation:
Facebook's primary use case is a social network which is used to stay connected with your friends, families. Over time it has evolved to more use cases where people use it for network, news, events, marketplaces and groups. I will segment the users based on the different usecases of people using facebook. ( I: Sure)
TG1: Social Network Users: This is the target segment who primarily use facebook to stay connected about to their friends and families. They want to see photos, status updates of their network and like, comment on them.

TG2: News Feed Users: This target segment comes to facebook to primarily consume news on facebook. They want to keep themselves updated on the latest happenings in their area.

TG3: Events Users: This target segments want to know the different

TG4: Facebook Marketplace Users: This target segment want to buy/sell stuff on facebook and that's their primary motivation to use facebook
TG5: Facebook Group Users: This target segment wants to stay connected to updates of their interests. For eg: sports, music, utilities, entertainment.

TG6: Entertainment Users: Users who are coming to facebook to watch the videos

For each of these users I will focus on building features where the natural usage of frequency will be daily to address that target users' pain point. With that context I will select TG3, TG2 and TG6. Is that ok? (I: Sure)

Target UserNeeds/Pain PointFeature
Event Users (TG3)Stay updated on the latest events in the area.Geography Events: While creating an event by an admin they can select an option to show this event to other users in the area. FB users can select the public events in their areas and choose if they want to join. For security the admin can force the user to ask a series of users or verify their identity.
News Feed UsersStay connected to news outside the user's geography/areaRound the globe news feature - Using this feature the user can put a pin on the map which will be displayed on the facebook home page and the news feed of the user will get populated with the news in that area. Based on the last selected geography of the user the user will receive notifications on their app on a daily basis.
Entertainment UsersDoesn't know what are the top rated and most viewed videos in a particular areaUser can select the geography like city, country and then the user will see the top rated and most viewed videos in that area. If the videos are in the local language then the video will be translated to the user's language using AI.

Based on the above list of features I think feature 2 and feature 3 will have a significant impact on daily active users as these features have a more natural tendency for daily usage.

For each of these features I will measure the following metrics:
a) Adoption of these location based features.
b) Repeat engagement on a daily basis.
