Design a product to help people find a mentor.
Clarifying Questions:
1. Why are we designing this? What is the objective behind designing such product?
2. When you mention a Mentor, ia it related to academic, career or non - academic, like anything in general?
3. Is it going to be part of Meta product stack?
Now since we have understood the problem statement clearly, let me categorise the potential user base.
Age Wise Distribution:
Kids
Adults
Old Age People
I ll choose Adults as the target demographic, but still it is general and not niche.
So further categorising the adults
- Pre - College Students
- College Students
- Working People
The career needs and goals of people are going to be entirely different from time to time, like when you are in high school - your aim is to get in to a good college, in collge, it is going to be land your first job, in job it can be again different.
Now the other stake holder is Mentor, Here the app works on a demand - supply model, If there are more mentors, more users will come and as the more users come, mentors either to build their personal brand or to get incentives, they will come to the app.
The people who mentor the pre-college students are mostly college students who got into a good college, they use the app because:
1. Incentives
2. Free Time during the college.
About the target demographic:
Pre-College students:
Problem they face during the pre-college time:
- Not very much aware about the opportunities
- They have a lot of time during college but may end up regretting because of not utilising it effectively
- Students who like to start early may not have enough and effective resources, most of the resources you find online may overwhelm the students.
- In need of a personalised mentor who can help them out in this crucial journey.
Product Overview:
Help the users in terms of planning the academic timeline and helping them out with their CV. (Providing strategy)
Effective Resources for cracking different exams will be provided by the AI bot which can help them in getting whatever they want and whenever they want.
Connect with the mentors based on their profile.
Extensive search for finding a mentor with advanced search features.
The Last two features are the core features of the application so we have to roll the mvp with them and go on improving the product.
That's it!
