Evaluate the competitive landscape (direct & indirect) for Dropbox.

When evaluating competitive landscape you have to see on both sides. The competition coming from vendors similar to Dropbox offering storage. And secondly other factors.

On competition to Dropbox, AWS, Box, Dropbox, Google Drive, JustCloud, Microsoft OneDrive & Opendrive are among many to list. Some of them have dispropotion advantage as they also provide other cloud services i.e AWS, Google & Microsoft. These service providers are close control their clients due to their hold on the services (non storage services).

On the other hand, cheaper local storage is also a competition but lack many of the services a Dropbox offers and can be ignored for small storage needs.

With recent increase in Ransomware and other attacks, Dropbox (and also other cloud storage) get a positive advantage, people seek cloud storage services as against the local in search of security (No sure if there is any better solution in cloud). The perception of better security with cloud storage, the demand for cloud storage provides an advantage to Dropbox.
