Recommended Solution
1. High priority features would be point 3,4 and 5 to go for MVP.
F1: 4: The touchscreen table has to be robust so that it can take up the food spilling and handle extreme temperatures of food. We can use some diamond glass on top and steel for the rest of body.
F2: 3: We need to see the menus. They should be detailed with description and photographs. In future we can implement smart menu suggesting dishes as per minimum details provided by user.
F3: 5: When people are not eating, bare minimum, people could be given chose of changing background to make it look more attractive. Restaurant can also make money from ads displayed but given that user has power to turn off the screen or skip ad.
2. Medium priority features would point 10 and 12 for increment 1.
F4: 10: Touchscreen should have button to call waiter. It could be a manual button or check the status button of order. Waiter can acknowledge and update the response time.
F5: 12: This feature would be required to capture the metrics and update the future roadmap of touchscreen,
Metrics
#of user looking for such restaurants.
#of table with touch screens
# order
# feedbacks
# contact numbers per week
# Monthly users repeating
Summary
I would be building touchscreen table for people who are medium or low tech in order to take orders, use the touchscreen table to entertain them meanwhile and getting feedback how is their experience.
Goal: We are building futuristic table where customers can be self surved and it will reduce engagement with waiters and faster turn over rate for restaurant owners.
Assumptions:
1) We are building a table which may have a touch screen enabled tablet.
2) We are only building for US for starters and may expand later to other regions.
3) To keep it simple, I would like to target fast food restaurants.
Target Customers: Restaurant owners, chefs and consumers.
I will target consumers, as mostly we are building for them.
Problems/Pain points currently with the restaurant
1) Do not know how much time it will take to get order
2) Daily Specials or promotions
3) sometime Waiting time before you are been served
4) Order placement and payment
Solution to above problems
Problem | Solution | Implementation Difficulty level | Importance to User |
How much time to get food served after order | Algo will calculate time based on avg time to prepare each dish+ little buffer for emergency order | Medium | High due to fast food |
Daily Specials | Easier to create by owner at the start of the day and show up immediately when the user sits down | Easy | Medium |
Customer being attended or show menu | Show welcome personal msg through owner and add sensor on seat and camera which can defect face recognition | Medium | Medium |
Order placement and payment | It is easy to leverage any ecommerce engine like shopify etc | Easy | High |
By prioritization matrix 1,4,3,2 is the way to implement features and ofcourse assitance when needed.
KPI's
I would break down into user engagement and revenue.
User engagement
1) % of users sat down on table.
2) Avg time spent by customer on the table
3) Avg. time from start to finish order placement(Primary KPI)
4) % of users asked assistance
5) customer satisfaction
6) DAU/MAU
Revenue
1) Avg revenue per customer(Primary KPI)
2) % of revenue from these tables
3) Avg no of items per customer
4) what % of tip left per order
I selected these two KPI's because I envision this being for fast food and you want to serve many customers in less time.
