⭐ Clarifying Questions and Assumptions

1. We are considering the Windows of buildings and not that of any kind of Vehicles.
2. We are considering the windows of residential buildings and not that of any workplace, hotel, or Hostels.
3. Defining windows to be normal windows and not that space for air circulation.
4. Considering 2 parts of the window to be 1 window.

⭐ Approach and Calculations

1. The population of Delhi is 3 crore.
2. Assuming the number of family members is 4, therefore, the number of families = 75 lakhs.
3. Now assuming some people own their own house and not flat. Since Delhi is a metropolitan city I think that this number could be around 20% of the total population. Therefore making the population flat/rentals to be = 60 Lakhs
4. Now dividing it based on Income. Assuming the Ratio to be the same as that of India

• High Class (10%)
• Upper Middle Class (20%)
• Lower Middle Class (30%)
• Low Class (40%)

1. Now defining the types of flats and average windows in each flat

• 3bhk → 3 bedrooms, 1 hall, 1 kitchen → 6 windows. Considering each bedroom has 1 window, the kitchen has 1 window for ventilation and the hall has 2 windows.
• 2bhk → 2 bedrooms, 1 hall, 1 kitchen → 5 windows. Considering each bedroom has 1 window, the kitchen has 1 window for ventilation and the hall has 2 windows.
• 1bhk → 1 bedroom, 1 hall, 1 kitchen → 3 windows. Considering each bedroom has 1 window, the kitchen has 1 window for ventilation and the hall has 1 window.
• 1RK → 1 hall cum bedroom, 1 kitchen → 2 windows. Considering each bedroom has 1 window, the kitchen has 1 window for ventilation.

1. Now assuming the number of windows in an average house:-

• Every house has 3 rooms for a family of 4, a guest room, dining room, Kitchen → Number of windows 3 + 3 + 3. Let’s assume 10 windows on an average
• And assuming a family of 8 people in the house making it → 7.5 lakhs family
• Number of windows for these families → 7.5 lakhs*10 → 75 lakhs windows

⭐ Number of windows in the residential building = 2.6 crore windows
