Brainstorming

  1. This is independent company designing the product for kids

  2. Good behavior definition varies based on what parents are trying to achieve

    1. Assuming the definition of good kids behaviour are

      1. Follow parents/caretaker/teachers specific guidelines for good behaviour such as brush your teeth or it could be communication related

      2. Good behavior is speaking positively, politely and having  good demeanor and eye contact while talking and respect others and have empathy.

  3. Different ways kids behaviour can be taught to kids

    1. Online

    2. Offline through different modes in school/ home etc

We will filter the segments later on but in this exercise we would focus on skills/habits children can adopt  through our tools which their parents/teachers can provide to them

What are we trying to achieve here?

To develop a product which help kids to be a better individual and add value to the community

So the Mission of the product is

We strive to help the community by making the future of children better through our tools. This tools let the children learn new good habits and flourish in the community

User segments

I would look at all actors which would fall into this ecosystem and different places children can learn good behaviour

Children:
  •   2-5 (toddlers) - Basic learning skills like reading, writing and understanding - early age to learn new things, exploring the world and picking up new habits

  •   5-15) (Teen) - developing new habits, behaviour and learning from the society and home

  • These childrens can be healthy children or someone having learning difficulties

Parents (Affordability of parents, upbringing of kids by parents is different their definitions vary of soft skills, educated parents, technical feasibility)

  • Single parents

  • Working parents

  • Non working parents

  • No parents

Carekares/Teachers/Schools - different schools and caretakers have different level of teaching kids good behaviour and some comply to it and some don't

  • Private school

  • Public school

  • Nurseries

  • Nannie

  • Home schooling

I would prioritise the building of the product for the children from 3-5 years old beacure this is the main age when children flourish and learn new things. I believe if foundation is good, then we can help the community to build better individuals. And from parent perspective, this product can be used by anyone who has children under this age but mainly focussed on parents who are busy (working and single) and don't have much time to teach good behaviour to their children

Pain points of parents who don't have time to teach good behaviour to children

  1. Busy parents don't have time to teach good behaviour

  2. Busy parents don't have time to observe , evaluate the good habits of the children

  3. Children at this age don't understand the different between good and bad behaviour

  4. Some children don't have the capabilities to learn the new learnings at this age

  5. Parents don't want to expose the children to lot of technologies at this age

I would like to prioritise the one which is the real and biggest problem and aligns with the mission - “We strive to help the community by making the future of children better through our tools. This tools let the children learn new habits and flourish in the community”

So, I am prioritising 1,2, 3 because i believe they are related and if are able to teach children the difference between good and bad bahviour and also give tools to busy parents the access to teach and evaluate good behaviour, we will be able to achieve our mission

Solutions :

  1. Online model to let parents learn and self serve to help children have good behaviour

    1. An App for learning soft skills

      1. Have initial criteria of what is good behaviour

      2. Parents can change the criteria of good behaviour

      3. Accustomed video for kids to learn good habits from the app

      4. Evaluation tools for parents to incentivise and measure if kids are learning good behavior

        1. It could be reward which parents can give to children when they finish some task and then then reward can be converted into some gifts

        2. It could be some points which children can get to fulfil some specific task

      5. This app can get better with usage as this will be personalised based on children development and notify parents other things they can do

  2. Offline models

    1. Building communities and providing tool to parents to teach good behaviour

      1. Learning centres where kids can go and learn

      2. Home visits to let parents know the what kind of skills kids require to learn

      3. Extra activities after schools/nurseries to help children learn good behaviour

I would like to prioritize the online model to help busy parents to learn/teach and evaluate the children good behaviour because once it can be accustomed based on user needs, it is scalable, and can be reached to millions of users with no geographic boundaries and have lesser cost than offline models

The trade off for online/offline is we will not be able to get the 1-2-1 feedback about whether children are learning good behavior so we need to build a survey system to get the feedback from the users and iterate on it

Top metric : Increase in usage of the service (DAU) and increase in NPS score .
