Clarifying Questions

Will this app be just suggesting recipes or it should do more than that? Can be anything.

Any budget constraints? No budget constraints

Any specific customer segment to target?  You can target anyone.

Any specific market to target ?  India and the subcontinent

Goal

The app has the sole motive of improving somebody’s skills as a cook. The user goal of the app is to provide an experience which enables them to be a better cook.

The business goal is to increase engagement on the app

Users

  • Students
  • Bachelor/Spinster Working Professionals
  • Families

We will target bachelor working professionals since during this covid times, a lot of young men and women who are staying are avoiding to order food from outside and have started cooking themselves. So they would be a great target segment for this app over the other two categories since most married women cook well and students usually live in dorms where they have a mess which serves them all meals.

Painpoints

  • Users would want to learn new recipes and styles in cooking - High
  • Users would want to know whether they are cooking a recipe correctly - High
  • Users do not know whether they are putting the right amount of an ingredient in the recipe. - Medium
  • Users do not have an idea about what to cook based on ingredients available to them - Medium
  • Users would want to know ingredients for a given recipe - Low
  • Users would like to know which food item will go better with another food item - Low

We will target the medium and high priority painpoints in the list.

Solutions

Suggest a Meal

You can keep a record of what items are available at home and keep checking out items which get used.

  • This feature will suggest meal options based on ingredients available at home. It will suggest a complete meal to cook along with recipes.
  • Recipes will be provided in a step by step manner and you can keep checking out each step as it is done.

Live Sessions with Chefs

This feature will enable you to connect with a chef online and will help you cook a recipe.

You can connect using a zoom call and keep the camera on as you cook the item. The expert chef will help you cook the item and make sure you are following the right steps.

Recipe Catalog

You can search a dish and it will show you detailed list of ingredients and steps to prepare the recipe.

Video Recipes

You can learn a new recipe everyday through video recipes. This will allow you to watch a  new video everyday in which an expert chef makes some special dishes.

My priority order would be : - 2>4>3>1

To measure success of the features, I would look at

  • number of live sessions per user per month
  • Number of registered users on the platform
  • Number of recipes searched on the platform
  • Recipes explored per user
  • Time spent on app

We can make live sessions available to only paid users.
