- no
Currently swiggy app does the following allows resturants owners to list the resturatnts and users can order from the app. The resraturants can be filtered basis rating, location , veg/non veg . user also has the option to search a food item or resurant name. Users can track the order basis the inteligent tracking sytem which takes in to acount
1) Riders time to reach the resturatnt
2)time to prepare the food
3) Time to deliver from resturant to users location
4) + buffer time
5 ) displays maps of live tracking
Other than this swiggy has insta mart services like quick commerce for groceries and daily consumeables like milk and others . There is swiggy gene, and than dineout service which gives you coupon
Lastly recently thelaunched mini where can sell products online
For the sake of this exercise i am thinking to follow below structure
Mission , Company Customer , Strengths , weaknesss, Strategy - does this structure sound ok ?
Mission - To make delivery experience the most covnient and affordable for users
Customers - Swiggy customers are dividde in 2 parts
Type of users | b2c |
resturant owners(cafe, fine dine, Cloud kitchen, qsr like mc donalds etc) | high frequency users(users who order at 5 times in a week) - Techsavy prefer convineice over cost, Genz, Millenials (office going population) |
Grocery and daily item supliers | Mid Frequency users(once 15 to 30 days) - Order when its required , when there is no food, believe in saving money, genx |
Dropshippers/individual sellers who want to sell product | Low frequency users (once in 3 to 6 months) (low spenders) |
Company - Is known for its delivery service and we spoke about the company in deltail above
What are strenghts
- Strong delivery fleet to deliver orders throgh 2 wheelers
- Tracking algos to predict delivery time
- Funds
Weakness
- Over commitent- display orders in menu and than post order confirmation they canel it -
- Profitablity is a question right now with lot of preasure from its competitor zomato
Strategy
From a strategy point of view if you think about it i think they are very evident that they have done a good job when it comes to building great network of delivery feel so i am thinking what could be next move
Sol | Prioty | Reach | Impact | UIUX | Effort |
1) Opening a delivery bussiness like dunzo/borzo - when orders are picked from users place and delivered at a desired destination- Like courier | Priorty 1 | Large | Large | Easy to replicate(medium) | High |
2) Can get to tranportation of users like uber cars/bike - only thing is that i think requires lot of capital and with funds of swiggy it might be possible but considering already so much competition from uber/ola and now gensol enginnering (blue smart) it seems to be a very competitive market | 2 | Large | Medium/Large | Easy to build (medium) | very high |
3) Order your own chef - premium service could be intresting proposition (celebrity stuff ) | 2 | Large | Medium/Large | Will have its challenges (High) | High |
4 ) Delivery companies like shadow fax or ship rocket | 2 | Large | Medium | Too much competition and thin margin(high) | Very High |
Considering above factors i feel option 1 makes sense, they can diverisfy and see how the performnce is and judge the product market fit
Sucess metric
- no of oders per day per user - north star metric
Other metrics
- DAU
- MAU
- Timespent
- Type of orders
- Avg Distance of pick up
- Avg distance of delivery
- Total distance
