Approach
1. Clarify Q
2. Identify pain points/user needs
3. Brainstorm solutions
4. Evaluate tradeoffs/prioritize solutions
5. Summarize and give recommendation
Clarify the Q
1. Who is this for? Citizens of a country, say the USA
2. What does it do? Informs citizens of their rights and the role and responsibilities of their government.
3. Why is it needed? To educate the masses of their rights and inform them of their government's role in society so citizens can keep government in check
4. How does it work? That is up to you to determine
5. Any specific goals to be aware of? We want it to be clear, digestible and widespread
6. Any constraints? Limited budget
7. Web or mobile app? You decide
Brainstorm pain points
1. Need to know about the platform
2. Need to know what a Constitution is
3. Needs to be written and explained in layman's terms
4. Need to be searchable/referenceable/relatable/relevant
5. Need to know why it is important to visit/use
6. To be reach as many people as possible
Brainstorm solutions
- For the MVP, I am picturing a website that has the US constitution written out in original language and then a Cliff Notes/Spark Notes version written in contemporary language.
- Additional features I would want to implement include videos explaining the origin of certain rules and rights to add meaning and reason behind the decisions of our founding fathers. This can also help people remember aspects of the document, because it helps tell the story and bring it to life.
- I would build a game/interactive trivia that quizzes folks on their knowledge of the Constitution. It could ask True/False questions like "The Constitution gives citizens the right to freedom of religion" and multiple choice questions as well like "What are the three branches of government?"
Prioritize solutions and give recommendation
I would build the product in the order above. First the website with the original and contemporary version (written in laymans terms). This would take the least amount of effort as there are copies and samples already available on the web. Next I would feature videos that go into detail of the various components of the constituion. There is likely ample content available on YouTube or Khan Academy, etc that can be pulled and displayed. Lastly, I would incorpoate an interactive game on the site. This too might already exist in various forms like video games, computer games, quizlets, etc. This site would compile all the existing resources, polish them, and feature them in one consolidated platform for a thorough understanding of the country's constitution.
