One of the biggest challenges I faced with one of my previous operations team was their lack of understanding of the importance of automated workflows as against their existing manual processes. We spent close to 6 months building the right set of product for them aligned with their needs, but when it came to using the product, the team was reluctant to test the product or provide early feedback. Even though we were closely working with this team, but they lacked the ownership to inform us about any changes in the business processes in a timely manner and as a result whenever we came up with a product feature, quite ofter the feature got outdated. My learning from this incident was to set the right expectations from the beginning and put your foot down if things are not changing. We need to pause things, collaborate more clsoely even if required to sit through with them to test out the flows rather then just following up periodically.
In my future company, I hope to avoid working with such teams but if it happens again, they I woul take cues from myh learnign and approach this situation in a more collaborative manner, even though it would slow us down on the product launch part, but it is always better to launch the right product rathat than shipping it fast.
