Let us first try and understand the meaning of streamlining the onboarding process for new employees

What does streamline means ?

- Employees are onboarderd faster

- A product which is a one stop place for the entire onboarding process

- Provides visibility to all the users involved in the onboarding process

- Provides a way to reach out to the right stakeholder during onboarding process in case of any issues faced by the employee

Based on these clarifications, let us define the company's mission

Mission -  To provide a platform for seamless onboarding of employees

Market - Let us take a specific country like India with IT employees onboarding

Within this market, there will be further segmentation based on the IT company size -

-  Established firms like TATA, Reliance

-  Growth Stage startups like Flipkart, Groww, etc.

-  Early Stage

Now for this product we will target the growth stage startups who are on a hiring spree. Established firms already have a set process with its existing vendors which may be difficult to break and early stage may not have the need for the product right now

Customer - Growth Stage Startups

Competitors - We will also look for the competitors in this market and define our positon with respect to the competitors. Existing competitors do not have a end to end solution for its customers

Product Vision :  Our product vision will focus on end to end solution of onboarding process for employees

Let us define the users involved in the product -

1. Employee

2. Hiring Manager

3. HR

4. Different stakeholders like IT department, Admin, etc. who are part of onboarding process

5. Project Stakeholders/Department heads with whom employee would work like marketing, supply, etc.

Let us also define the journey of a new employee and current pain points -

Before Joining -

1. Gets the offer letter from the HR

2. Sets up a joining date in the portal

3. Fills in documents & other details before joining

After Joining -

4. Goes through a orientation process

5. Gets his laptop, ID card, etc.

6. Interacts with his immediate stakeholders/departments, etc.

7. First 90 days of working

Pain points -

1. Has to reach out to HR over call for any document related doubts

2. Does not get to know the scehdule of orientation in advance to plan his first day better

3. Teams like IT department has to plan for laptops in advance, currently they do not have the pipeline visibility

4. Calendar blocking is done by HR manually to make the employee meet his department stakeholders

5. Employee is not aware of the SPOC of IT, admin, etc. and where exaclty they sit in the office.

6. Difficult for HR to keep a track of joining of all its employees, currently maintained manually

7. Hiring manager has no view about the status of the new employee. Has to get in touch with HR always.

8. Reminders to employees to fill the documents on time to avoid hassle on the joining day

9. No one takes feedback of employees after joining to understand the initial pulse of employee

Now based on Value vs Effort we will try and priortize solutioning for each of these pain points

Success Metrics -
