  1. Understanding and clarifying the scope
    • Google maps offers users convinient and comprehensive way to find , explore and navigate locations
    • parking solution for Google maps will focus on offering a comprehensive set of parking options for drivers who get to a location
    • Do we need to provide anytype of parking solution, free, paid, permit, reserved... ? Yes, you are building the solution, so you decide the scope
  2. User groups
    • Tourist -who could be arriving at the location anytime of day and is not aware of the right parking spots
    • local commuters - drivers familiar with the city and wants a parking spot for a spcific event and timeslot
    • daily commuters - Who needs a spot daily from 8-6 from Monday to friday/ saturday and willing to pay monthly charges
  3. user needs
    • Tourists
      • need a parking solution that is nearest to the landmark they want to visit.
      • is not senstive to pricing there primary need is to get closet to the location
      • could need day long permit
      • Arrives and departs at non-peak time
    • local commuters
      • flexible on the distance to landmark they plan to visit
      • senstive to pricing but flexible based on the time they visit to the location
      • would need a small duration parking spot
      • could arrive and depart at peak and non-peak time
    • daily commuters
      • flexible but not very far from their work location
      • very senstive to price
      • need day long permit
      • arrives and departs at peak time
  4. user group selection and needs prioritization
    • daily commuters will need to find only day long permit spots and they should be informed about where they can find that. local commutors will find a parking solution helpful ut as they know the city could find their way around. Tourist is the user groups I would select for te parking solution as they would be dependent on Google maps to get around the city
    • Nearest to location - would be high impact as that is their primary need
    • Price - would be nice to have for cost consious tourist- so it would be a medium impact
    • Spot duration - is medium impact as if the tourist plans a short duration visit then limited parking hours would work but if they are planning whole day and the duration for parking is limited then they would be impacted
    • Arrival and departure - tourist are flexible and could arrive and depart anytime, so to make the solution provide them information at all times would be high priority
    • We will prioritize the parking solution for tourist to be able to find the nearest parking spot with updated information on availbility based on their arrival.
  5. product ideas
    • google maps already provides information about the nearest parking spot to the location. what the parking solution would need to provide is the real time information if the parking is available. for that the following capabilities/ features would need to exist
      • sensor based infromation for each parking spot
      • the reservation infromation on how long the parking spots are going to be occupied based on the reservation information
      • pricing information on different times in the day, so that price senstive tourists can plan accordingly
      • alternate recommendation with additional information on pros and cons of the alternative to nearest parking location
  6. Prioritization of the ideas
    • SolutioncostImpact
      Realtime sensor based  availbilityMediumHigh
      reservation infolowHigh
      pricing informationlowmedium
      alternate recommendation with pro/conslowmedium

  7. Product idea
    • The Google parking solution should be driven through sensor based information that will provide a realtime availbility that is cross checked with the parking information to ensure if  parking reservation is over and if the vehicle still is parked or not and vice versa.
    • Metrics
      • Success rate at which parking solution as corectly guided the tourists
      • daily usage of the application
      • repeat usage of the application
