Define the success metrics for Facebook Messenger Kids.
Interesting..Facebook has introduced Messenger for Kids to create a platform for the Kids to communicate with other friends and family members over online and It is made completely kid friendly. This is the Messenger Kids that we are talking about right?
Interviewer: Yes.
To define the success metrics for the Messenger Kids, I should understand What does success mean for it?
Apparently Facebook wants more kids and parents to use the app and kids to interact with their friends.
So the northstar metric would be Weekly Active Users of the App which helps us understand how many users are opening the app in a week which can help us understand the growth, stickiness of the app.
Parents have to install the app and configure the settings for the kids to start using the app, so it is important to understand how many parents are aware of it and try using it. Facebook will be the driving force to get parents install the app.
So here we should track the conversion rate from facebook app to install the app. The metric would be No of clicks on facebook to install of Kids app.
Since the app is new and growth of new users is quite important, to track the growth we can No of signups in a week.
Engagement is the measure of how each user is engaging with the app, so the metric to measure the engagement in this messaging app would be understand no of conversations
No of messages being sent per day per user
As there is call feature as well, Calculating the total time spent in calls per user will understand how well the call feature is connecting the users.
The metric to understand the group messaging and calls would be Average No of users per group call , Average time of a group call.
The final metric would be retention metric which gives the clear understanding of the stickiness of the app. So it will be D7 Retention rate.
