Clarifying questions

-          Am I PM at Microsoft – yes

-          Microsoft is a global company however, can I assume geography as India and we can then discuss how to scale this to other countries à ok

-          Can you tell me more on what manual job means à Let’s say physical labor such as mason, construction, plumbing, etc

-          What is the vision of this product à As part of Microsoft outreach we want to help people in rural areas to find the work effectively

Microsoft vision: Empower everyone to achieve more

Product goal: To make job easier for people in rural areas

User segments

-          People in need of job

-          Individual Job recruiters

-          Agencies

o   Govt, school, temple etc who wants to get some work done

Since, we are talking about kiosk to assist people find jobs, there are 2 sides – demand and supply. So we need to talk about agencies that create mass jobs and the individuals in need of jobs

Pain -points

-          Opportunity discovery

-          Position filled / vacant

-          Opportunity estimation – future

Out of the various pain-points, I assume that the opportunity discovery would be most substantial as it will allow people to have a control of current status

Solutions

-          Vernacular digital kiosk [ Impact – M | Effort – H ]

o   Gen-AI and OCR – scrub through employment news and other sources

o   Track govt. websites based on GPS location

o   Generate job listings based on the data

-          Manned kiosk [ Impact – H | Effort – H]

o   Tie up with govt and other organizations

o   Job opportunity display

o   Registration – job opportunity

-          Aadhar based kiosk  [ Impact – L | Effort – H]

o   Based on Aadhar details track when was work offered in govt of other organisations

o   Send sms communication when job opportunity comes

Manned kiosks seems to better choice as the job details are updated and registration of the workers can also be done to ensure the success of the prouduct

North star metrics (NSM)

-          # jobs completed by the users

Other key metrics

-          Avg jobs per candidate

-          # jobs shared

-          % actual jobs fulfilled

-          Unique users benefited

Assuming i am PM for Microsoft, are kiosks made by Microsoft or outsourced?
Should i focus on hardware or software or mix?
Is the kiosk all touch panel or has physical buttons?

user groups:
1. people who need jobs and  know how to use kiosk

2. people who need jobs but odnt knw how to use kiosk
3. peopel who have job but want to check for any better opportunities

4. recruiters who upload job

for this interview, I would go with persona of people who need jobs

Needs:
1. I want to be able to look for jobs updated daily
2. I want to be able to check out and apply forjobs via my account
3. I want to be able to check latest job news

4. I want to be able to withdraw my application if i fidn better opportunity

Solutions:

1. I want to be able to create, edit and update my profile.
2. I want to browse all available jobs with filters on location, category of manual jobs etc
3. I want to be able to click on a job and apply for it
4. I want to cancel my job application if not needed
5. I want to cancel applied job if I dont wwant to take it
6. Options like voice assist for those who have disability
7. Options like application guide that helps user understand how to operate the kiosk -- for those who are not ware of how to use the kiosk

Evaluate
Based on impact, I would prirotitise MVP features(#1, #2, #3)  to get the kiosk up and running and add acccesibility features and others in a incremental fashion

trade-offs,
bare minimum vs aesthetics --> prefer to go with easy to use bare minimum UI initially and will add comsmetics later on
