Clarifying questions

1. Assuming we are building this product where the weather is quite unpredictable like in seattle. -> Yes

2. We are building the product for kids who are not challenged -> Yes

Goal

We would like to build a umbrella which is easy to use and easy to understand how to use it and beyond all, goal of builing this product is making the life of the parents easy so that kids are not dependent.

Users :

1. Parents / care takers

2. kids

I would like to focus on the parents / care takers and alliveate their painpoints.

Painpoints:

1. Parents have to open the umbrella for the kids

2. They are tired of holding the umbrella when travelling long distances as there generally is height difference between adults and kids

3. Kids run around or walk at a faster pace , making it harder for the adults to hold the umbrella in one still position

4. Umbrellas are heavy

5. Kids are very choosy with colors and characters

6. Kids of this age can read but they do not necessarily know how to google a weather forecast to understand if they need an umbrealla.

Solutions

Build a umbrealla with simple buttons and shapes, circle for open and circle with cross mark for closeAddresses the easy to use and understandwillnot address the problem of when to use and getting tired holding it for a long time.
Built in Umbrealla within a cap. The idea is just like the suitcase which has an additional zip to increase the space.
The cap in this case senses the heat / rain and auto expands or converts into a umbrealla

Avoids the need to hold it and auto expands making the life of the parent easy as they now need not worry if they are not with the child and it suddely rains.

if the kid forgets to wear the cap then thats a problem but that exits if they forget to take umbrealla as well.

I would go with the second idea as the concept is new and addresses all the parents/ care takers painpoints. Its a key differentiator to the available products in the market.

I would like to assess the total sales as the north star metric to the initial production. we can manufacture the product by assesing the demand and supply.

I would also like to have Total returns as a counter metric to understand the quality of the product and if possible would like understand the feedback or reason for return to help improve the product.
