Facebook:

Facebook is an online social media service where user post and interact with content

Mission of FB Events:

To connect communities in real life through calendar-based events outside of FB and help the user to drive awareness to their events, engagement, conversions, and monetization of their pages

User Segment:

  1. Event Creator
    1. These users create the events
    2. They are happy when invitees agree to come to the event (Clicking Yes on RSVP)
  2. Invitees
    1. These users get invited to the events page
    2. They are happy when an event that they think is interesting comes up and they get the chance to attend it

[FB will be happy when Invitees can successfully agree to come to the event (RSVP)]

I think Fb events were created to increase awareness as FB doesn't get any monetary benefits from FB events. However, more users get to know about FB, and more no. of users will get onboarded and later will be shown ADs which will increase the revenue of FB.

NSM:

# of events with RSVP as "YES"

Why not only the RSVP links without any response of YES or NO?

This would result in focusing more on event creators but that would be of no use as invitees also should agree to come to the event or else there will be an event with no invitees. For the proper functioning of FB events and real events, there should be a proper balance between creators and invitees.

Supporting Metrics:

  1. Creators
    1. % FB users creating an active events page
    2. Avg. conversion rate of invitation (Invite accepted/Invite sent)
    3. To identify if there is any trend in the creation of events. Events created per week per month and on special occasions
    4. Funnel analysis of steps from creating the event till one day before the event
  2. Invitees
    1. Acceptance rate (RSVP accepted/RSVP received)
    2. How does the user accept the RSVP (Notification, Mail, etc)
