Note: This is a Hypothetical example
Question: Should we focus on implementing the NFT marketplace for Instagram or Suggestings a hashtags feature for creators on Instagram
Mission of IG: Capture and share your moments online
Features:
- NFT is a rising topic for most of the Gen Z's (TG of IG) and there are many people who want to trade NFTs but are not aware of many credible platforms. If a marketplace is built IG can get a commission per transaction resulting in an increase in revenue
- Suggesting hashtags feature is focused on the new content creators, to encourage them to put more content. (More content will lead to a larger video library for content consumers increasing their watching time and leading to an increase in ADs shown increasing revenue)
Constraints:
- NFT Market place
- High engineering effort
- Requires more time for implementation
- Effect: Increase in Revenue
- Suggesting hashtags
- Comparatively low engineering effort
- Requires less time for implementation
- Effect: Increase in revenue and engagement
Assuming that both the feature have been AB tested and have significant potential (Hypothesis->Metrics for AB test-> Defining Control and Test part)
The current Goal of IG from Acquisition, Activation, Retention, Referral, Revenue is generating revenue because IG relies more on ADs
IG already has experience in generalized as well as personalized ADs thus focusing more on ADs makes sense than entering a totally different segment. Also, NFT does align with IG's mission statement.
Thus we will be going forward with the feature that can be implemented in the short-term.
(This answer can be modified if the current IGs state with funding and the burning rate is known!)
