Product description:

Facebook blue app is Facebook’s primary mobile application.

Facebook mission statement is “to give people the power to build community and bring world closer together”.

It makes lot of sense for FB to build products to help people improve their health given the health industry’s shift towards community-centric healthcare where people are healthier when their communities are educated and have resources for prevention.

Business Motivation: increase engagement

User Persona:

Patients

1.       Youth age group: student with age group 15-25 years

2.       Working age group: person with age group 25-55 years

3.       Old age group: person with age 55 and more

Health service providers

4.       Medical practices

5.       Doctor

6.       Nurses

7.       Appointment Co-ordinators

We will choose old age group personas as they need to be more health-related requirement.

User journey

1.       Search for a doctor based on Speciality/ insurance network/ ratings or referral/ facilities at practice/location

2.        Based on availability, book an appointment

3.       Fill out necessary forms online -if applicable

4.       Go to the clinic and check-in

5.       Fill out forms if not already done online & complete other patient registration related tasks

6.       Wait for turn

7.       Meet doctor

8.       Book Next/ follow up if needed

9.       Make payment due at the time

10.   Check-out

Pain point

1.       Old age patients who are not tech-savvy, are dependent on someone else to search for a doctor to treat ailments

2.       The list check-in forms and knowing the list of documents at the time of visit can be missed.

3.       Wait time at the doctor’s clinic is often unpredictable. Someone help it to plan ahead in case of long waiting times.

4.       These users need help in making the trip to and from the doctor’s clinic.

5.       Prescription picks up – an extra trip is required to the pharmacy to take prescribed medicines.

Brainstorming solutions

1.       Doctor visit experience feature that takes care of before- during-post visit aspects. This feature is accessible to patient and care giver. This feature should be integrated with medical practice website to automatically obtain required info pertaining to patient’s visit.

2.       User enters search criteria for doctor based on specialization/ailments/ special needs/ proximity etc. The feature aggregates information from Practo, Google reviews etc. and provided an aggregated list. Patient/ care-giver can make appointment with health-provider of choice through this feature.

3.       Upon completion of appointment booking, the date of appointment and required document checklist are maintained by this feature. 48 hours prior to visit, email and mobile notifications are sent to patient and care-giver to ensure the checklist is met.

4.       On the day of visit, patient and care-giver are notified of the estimated wait time to plan their trip accordingly. Based on the patient’s medical history e.g., diabetes, app’s feature can make recommendations on takings snacks/insulin etc. that may be needed while waiting.

5.       App’s feature can be integrated with Uber/Ola or other local transport providers to allow for automatic/ manual booking of trip to and back from the doctor’s clinic. If prescription pick-up is ready on the way back, an additional destination can be added to trip.

Based on the evaluation above, MVP will include features 1,2,3.

·         1st is required feature to meet the basic requirements.

·         2nd and 3rd – make the visit successful, stress-free and minimized dependencies.

4th and 5th solutions are convenience factors that can be handled remotely by caregiver without going through app itself.
