Clarifying questions:

Describe Product:
Instagram is a photo and video sharing social networking app which allows users to upload media that can be edited with filters and shared publicly or with preapproved followers.
Instagram’s mission statement is “to capture and share the world’s moments.”
Goal: To improve the education of student by sharing 30 minutes to one-hour videos on important topic of 9-12 classes.
User group
· Teacher(creators): persona who create the study material
· Learner/students(consumers): Persona who study the uploaded material
· Parent: who assist the students in providing online material.
· Influencer: person who upload the online material on topic related to 9-12 classes.
· Schools/online learning site (Advertisers): Personas who assist the teacher in uploading online material.
Here we will choose students because they are the largest groups.
Pain point:
· Students need extra session on Topic which they have not understood fully in class rooms.
· Collaborate with friends on homework to learn things or preparation for exams.
· Students might not have access to print materials which teachers would normally give out in a classroom.
Brainstorming solutions
Here I am going to pick 1st pain point because it is the most necessary for student to complete the course. Some solutions are:
1. Creators choose the topic video based on student survey in a private Instagram group where student follow the particular group. Here student can ask the questions to teachers or discuss with students.
2. use trend analytics for Topic whose video should be uploaded because 9-12 class student in India typically prepare for engineering/medical exams.
3. Upload the video with transcript and Notes of important topic from where student can download and understand the topic uncovered.
Evaluating solutions
| user Impact | Implementation Effort |
Student survey | High | Medium |
Trend analytics | High | Low |
Transcript and Notes | Medium | Low |
Recommendations:
Here I will recommend Choosing the Topic based on Trend analytics i.e., solution 2 because it will create long-term value to user and engaged with Instagram for long time that will add value to Instagram.
Solution 1 will give high user impact for short term because it is limited for a particular class. solution 3 will support to the student in understanding the content of particular Topic. i.e., short term engagement.
Success Metrics:
· # Of DAU and WAU of students and Teachers who are part of these groups
· # Of hours engaged
· # Of questions asked and answered
Summary:
We want to design an education product for Instagram. We narrowed down the goal to 9-12 classes education product for India. We started with defining user groups and choose student/consumer user persona. We describe three pain points for student which describe the need of education product on Instagram. We choose extra session for Topic which student has not fully understood in the class and proposed three solutions. We prioritize solution based on user impact and implementation effort and finally choosing Topic based on Trend analytics which will give Long-term engagement with Instagram. Finally, we defined the success metrics in DAU and WAU of student and teachers, # of hours engaged and # of questions asked and answered.
