Music service enables listening to music either by streaming or hard copying on any particular device such as CDs, DVD, pen drive etc

Clarifying questions

-          Who are we as a product company à Startup

-          To scope this, can I assume we are targeting India à Yes

-          Since we have multiple similar options, any specific reason to target music service domain à I think for children this is still an unexplored potential area to make a difference

-          Since a digital product is scalable, so I am leaning towards exploring the digital product à Sure

-          Any time or resource constraint under which we have to create this product à No

Product goal

-          Acquire more users to this music service

User segment

-          Toddlers (0-5)

-          Pre-teens ( 6-12)

-          Teenagers (13 – 17)

-          Secondary users

o   Parents/ Guardians

Pre-teens is a good target base for this service since, they are not toddlers but still need some different kind of content than teenagers or their parents

As this product is usually for Pre-teens we have to keep the guardians/parents in mind as they might be the one who will help in downloading and potentially paying users

Pain-Points

-          Music discovery

-          Child friendly content

o   Not explicit

o   Violence, hate, etc

-          Sharing with friends

Music discovery and content are the things that guardians have to compromise nowdays if they want to give their children a good music experience

Solutions

1.       Auto suggestions [Impact – Medium, Effort – Low]

a.       Suggestions based on age, demographics

b.       As child started using it. Learn itself

c.       Social aspect – add friends and listen to them

2.       Parent guided [ Impact – High, Effort – high]

a.       Notification triggered to parent what their child genre is

b.       Specific singer/types of songs dashboard

c.       Mood of child

d.       Parents can control certain topics

3.       Constant evolving [ Impact – Medium, Effort – High]

a.       Seeing this in the league of Whatsapp

b.       Wherever I see any song either to accept or reject, a child/parent could add in the list

c.       Find nearest concerts and other thing related to child interest

I would like to give with Auto-suggestions since Parent guided is like invasion of privacy even after dedicated child music service. The social aspect of auto -suggestion will engage children to share the interest and songs with their friends. Overall this will lead to Network effects
