Clarifying questions and Assumptions:-
1. Are we considering all breeds of pet dogs? - Yes
2. Are we count single or double if someone has more than 1 dog? – Single
3. Are we considering those dogs in the pet category that are kept by police or army troops? -No
Considering only the Delhi region, India: The population of Metro City is 3Cr.
Because pets are not permitted in Most of the rented houses, Quarter House(PG, Hostel) I am considering the Own house segment. ---
Total Population | 3 cr | Family member=5 |
Own House | 50% = 1.5 | 1.5/5 = 3M |
Rent House | 25% |

Total Family in Delhi is 3M who have their own house.
Only 40 % of people who keep pets in their house:-
Pet Families:- 40 % of 3M=1.2M
Dogs | 30% |
Cats | 5% |
Birds | 5% |
Pet Dogs in Delhi :- 30% of 1.2M=360k
Sanity Test:-
- Total City in India in 2022: 48 cities
- Pet Dogs in India in 2022:- 20M
- 20M/48= 416k (make sense)
