Answering a Facebook product strategy question takes an outline. Here's my line of thinking.
Clarification
1. Are you currently facing any challanges/failures in setting up the FB events?
2. Is our regular process of setting up the FB events not effective?
3. Is this specific to virtual FB events or the invitation sent for physical locations
Describe the feature/product
FB is a social networking site where the feature of setting up an event helps to socialize, collobrate, raise product promotions and spread awareness. The strong network of people increases the chance of more number of people attrracting towards the event. But that is not enough to engage and attract people.
Goal- To increase the engagement of the people to attennd and the events
List of the strategies
1. Promoting the event through FB posts and other social media channels like linkedin whatsup which is little diccicult and cost consuming if we organise the events physically and do physicall promotions using hoardings and banners.
2. Booking the events well in advance to get the availability of the audience. In case of arranging an event physically at a place then we might ended up losing the advance payment if we havee to reschedule or cancel the event
3. Use catchy photos, videos and short descriptions to make the events catching attention
4. Making the events invitations time boxed with the limited availability of the seats
5. More ad options for businesses: Let businesses advertise special deals related to events they’ve organized, example-50% off everything at happy hour, tonight only!
6. Create a “why users are excited” feature: Add “why you are excited to attend” options for users who RSVP, then expose this on the event listing example: Facebook: ”Let others know why you’re excited to attend: Location, Entertainment, Relaxation, Networking etc. - Event listing: Most users are excited for the entertainment at this event! Even showing a small stats on the exitment of the RSVPs would increase the engageement
7. Event creation tips: Add tips for creating more engaging event posts, which in turn would reward the creator with more RSVPs and comments, example- pop ups on the event creation page like “Adding a picture increases comments on events by 20%
8. Predict and auto-populate events: Predict and auto-populate events to encourage creation Your birthday is coming up, remember to create an event related to your party. Here’s a basic one we made from your birthday event last year to get you starte
9. Connect with Facebook Live: Include streaming options so that Facebook event pages are also used during events, and not just before they happen, example- broadcasting a concert with Facebook Live integration within the event page
Evalutions
1. Event creation tips: We’ll want to validate that this solution will actually add value and we may not need to add any extra UI elements
2. Predict and auto-populate events: This solution has some dangerous edge cases, like reminding someone to create an anniversary event for a loved one who recently passed away
3. Connect with Facebook Live: This is likely an expensive and time consuming solution as we’d need to work with another team, and we’d want to avoid cannibalizing engagement for Facebook Live
Therefore, Finally, I would like to prioritise that “Event creation tips” came out as the most promising option . In order to turn Facebook events around, we need to maximize engagement anf theregfore given the biggest opportunity is increasing deeper engagement, the first thing I would try is add event creation tips, which should lead to more engaging event posts overall
